Value Propositions
Ideate
Next, I used techniques including a sitemap, wireframes, and mockups to help ideate and structure the website layout, visualize key user flows, and design a clean, user-friendly interface.
Techniques
Sitemap
I began by sketching initial concepts on paper, exploring multiple layout options for each key page of the website. This helped me identify and highlight the strongest elements to carry forward. I then translated these into digital wireframes to better visualize structure and functionality. Before progressing to high-fidelity mockups, I met with the client to review the wireframes, gather feedback, and ensure the layout and features aligned with their goals and expectations.

Test
I conducted an unmoderated usability study using Maze, where five participants were asked to complete tasks using the low-fidelity prototype and respond to questions based on their experience. I analyzed the feedback to inform my design decisions, then created a high-fidelity mockup. From there, I conducted another round of usability testing to evaluate improvements and ensure the updated design addressed key usability issues.
Usability Study
Insights and Updates
Users would feel more confident booking a cleaning service if there was clear information about the cleaning products used, helping them make informed decisions based on their preferences or sensitivities
Users would find the website more approachable and less overwhelming if the visual design was simplified
Users would benefit from seeing key service details—such as spaces and areas cleaned—on both the Home and About pages, reducing the need to switch between pages and making it easier to determine if the service meets their needs

Development
After finalizing the high-fidelity mockups, I developed the live website using Wix. I translated the visual design and structure directly into a functional site, customizing components to maintain consistency with the mockups while ensuring responsiveness and accessibility. This phase allowed me to bring the design to life and ensure that the user experience aligned with both client goals and usability best practices.

Results
The new J&D Cleaning Services website launched recently, and is currently in the early stages of gathering feedback and performance data. To begin measuring success, I conducted a brief post-launch survey with users to gauge their initial impressions. Early responses indicate that the site feels simple, modern, and intuitive / easy to navigate.

In addition to survey insights, we’ve started reviewing engagement data. Initial analytics show that users are interacting with key areas of the site, such as the service listings and contact form. While it’s still early, these indicators suggest that the streamlined layout and messaging are helping users find the information they need efficiently.
As more data becomes available, we plan to track metrics like booking conversions, contact form submissions, and overall user satisfaction to continuously evaluate and refine the experience.
Thoughts
This project gave me the opportunity to balance business goals with user-centered design. I worked closely with a small business client to create a website that met their vision while ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience for users. Throughout the process, I made design decisions backed by research and usability testing, while staying aligned with the client’s needs and preferences.
Given the tight timeline, I focused on efficiency by conducting secondary research and a competitive analysis to identify user pain points and opportunities for improvement. This approach allowed me to move quickly without compromising the quality of the design, and helped ensure the final product felt both thoughtful and effective.
If I had more time, I would have conducted primary research such as user interviews or surveys to gain deeper insights. I’d also continue refining the design through additional rounds of usability testing and explore further enhancements for accessibility and clarity.
